Private patient surgery bookings

Following discussions at a clinic consultation, you may wish to book surgery for you or your child. Please note that we generally do not accept bookings for surgery in advance of a face-to-face or remote (telephone/ video) consultation.

The procedures are all outlined in the ENT patient information section of the website, and the links to the different conditions and surgeries are also available on the FAQ page, please click here. It is really important that you have the time to read and understand the treatments involved and the benefits and risks before booking procedures.

For insured patients, insurance companies will ask you for the procedure code(s), anaesthetist and hospital, and these are also included on the FAQ page. They will then provide you with an authorisation code for the procedure.

As a reminder, here are some of the commoner procedure codes:

F3480 Adenotonsillectomy (removal of the tonsils and adenoids)

F3400 Child tonsillectomy up to the age of 16, without adenoidectomy

F3440 Adult tonsillectomy

E2010 Adenoidectomy (not in conjunction with tonsillectomy)

D1510 Insertion of grommets

D1530 Myringotomy and drainage of middle ear fluid

D0702 Aural toilet (removal of ear wax)

E0412 Reduction of the nasal turbinates

E3520 Microlaryngoscopy

E5180 Bronchoscopy

D1420 Myringoplasty (eardrum repair)

F2620 Division of tongue tie

W2620 Manipulation of fractured nose

For self-funding patients, there is also booking information and a discussion about fees on the FAQ page. Please kindly ensure that you have a summary of the hospital fees from the relevant hospital’s business office. Surgeon and anaesthetist fees are also discussed- these are always in addition to the hospital’s own fees.

Bookings are made on a first come-first served basis. They are subject to confirmation by the hospital, to ensure that beds are available. Although we may give you a provisional admission and surgery time when you book, timings on the day may change, and we generally accommodate patients for surgery in age order, youngest first. We will be in touch to confirm the precise admission and fasting times within 48 hours of the admission, to allow for late alterations of the operating lists- we may ask you to arrive earlier or later (usually by a maximum of 2 hours each way).

Before you make a booking, please check your schedule to ensure that you have allowed for a period of recovery afterwards- in case of school, work or travel commitments. With most surgeries, travel is possible relatively soon afterwards, but in certain cases (eg tonsillectomy), patients will require 2-3 weeks after surgery before flying, for instance. If you have any queries about this, please ask my secretary Mari.

When you are ready to make a booking, please complete the form below.

We will confirm soon afterwards, usually within one working day. If you have not received confirmation within this time, please email info@danieltweedie.com
